At Seniors Helping Seniors® Eastern Hamilton and NE Marion Counties, we have a passion for meeting the needs of seniors in a way that provides both dignity and a sense of camaraderie. Our owner(s) Brad James, Christina James firmly believe we can do that through serving seniors in our community, which includes: Indianapolis, Fishers, Carmel, and surrounding areas.
Christina and Brad James were looking for a change when they saw an ad for Seniors Helping Seniors in-home care. They immediately knew they had found what they were looking for. “We were looking for something more purposeful that would benefit and support our local community,” shared Christina. “We certainly found it!”
Seniors Helping Seniors in-home care matches seniors who want to help with seniors who need a little help. The peer-to-peer assistance allows seniors in need to receive care from a friend, someone with whom they can truly relate. At the same time, seniors who want to help are able to remain active in their community, while often forming strong relationships with the seniors for whom they care.
Christina and Brad have an intimate understanding of caregiving. After health complications, Christina’s grandmother required assistance for daily activities such as dressing, meal preparation, and bathing. As Christina cared for her, she began to notice how lonely her grandmother was because she didn’t have enough personal interaction and companionship. “That is at the heart of what Seniors Helping Seniors care can do for families,” shared Christina. “There is so much more to giving care than just performing tasks. By matching seniors who can relate to one another we help to form friendships that can have great impact.”
“Our older community members deserve to enjoy life while remaining independent in their own home,” continued Brad. “As a country, we are living longer. It is important for us to have resources to help us maintain our quality of life as we age. It’s our mission to develop a community that cares for one another. We truly hope to be a positive resource for years to come.”
The senior providers who work with Christina and Brad offer many non-medical, in-home services including:
Light yard work
Brad is a born and raised Hoosier and has enjoyed growing his family with Christina in Indiana. A former marine and Desert Storm veteran, he has spent the majority of his career in the medical field, as a registered nurse and wound care specialist. Christina, who was also born in Indiana, lived in many locations throughout the country with her family. She returned to her home state in 2002 where she has had a successful career as an office coordinator for an orthopedic practice.
Brad and Christina live a very active life, which includes attending church regularly and engaging in various fitness and family activities through the local health center. Family is extremely important for them and their three-year-old son and nineteen-year-old daughter. Together they have fueled their passion for contributing to their community by opening Seniors Helping Seniors home care. “It is imperative that the seniors in our community feel supported, engaged, and can enjoy their lives, while remaining in their own home,” said Brad. “This is what we want for our own family and it is what we want to help other families achieve as well.”
